A rock chip on the hood or a key line down the door doesn't need a full panel repaint. Small damage has its own repair path — faster, cheaper, and worth doing before the weather turns it into something bigger.
Scratch and Chip Damage We Fix
How Deep Is It? That Decides Everything
Clear Coat Only
Run a fingernail across it — if it doesn't catch, the scratch is in the clear coat. These often polish out or need only a light spot repair, which is the cheapest fix on this page.
Through to Primer or Metal
If your nail catches, the scratch has gone past the clear. Those need to be filled, sealed, and refinished with your factory color — otherwise moisture gets underneath and the edges start lifting.
Send a close-up photo and we'll tell you which one you're looking at before you spend anything.
Car Chip Repair Before It Becomes Rust
A chip that reaches bare metal is an open door for moisture. In Miami's humidity and salt air, that can bubble the paint around it within a single season, and once rust spreads under the surrounding finish, you're no longer fixing a chip — you're refinishing a panel.
Catching it early is genuinely one of the cheapest pieces of maintenance a car gets.
Minor Auto Paint Repair, Done Properly
Touch-up pens from the parts store leave a blob that's often more visible than the original chip. We fill, level, and blend the repair with your factory paint code so the fix sits flush with the panel and reads as one continuous surface.

Can a scratch be buffed out instead of repainted?
If it's only in the clear coat, often yes. The fingernail test is the quick check — if your nail doesn't catch, there's a good chance it polishes out.
How much does car paint scratch repair cost?
Far less than most people assume for surface scratches. Deeper ones that need filling and refinishing cost more, but still a fraction of a full panel repaint. The estimate is free either way.
Are touch-up pens worth it?
They seal bare metal in a pinch, but they typically leave a raised blob that's more noticeable than the chip was. For anything visible, a proper blended repair looks dramatically better.
Will you have to repaint the whole panel?
Not usually. Most chips and scratches are spot-repaired and blended into the area around them, which keeps both the cost and the paint work contained.
How urgent is a chip that shows bare metal?
Urgent enough not to leave for months. In South Florida, exposed metal starts oxidizing quickly and the rust spreads under the surrounding paint where you can't see it.
Can you match my color exactly?
We use your vehicle's factory paint code and blend outward from the repair, which accounts for how your car has faded and keeps the patch from standing out.
